The “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Health Innovation” (WE Health) project is an initiative designed expressly for women working in health innovation who have an interest in pursuing entrepreneurial activities. "la Caixa" Foundation is one of the eight European institutions that runs this programme, supported by EIT Health.

Having noted the need for more women-led start-ups in health innovation, EIT Health CAMPUS has set up this initiative to cater to the specific needs of women, providing mentoring and training to help them advance in their careers. In 2019, the capacity building programme includes three modules targeting women at different stages in their careers. Each three-day long module will provide participants with opportunities to hear the real life experiences of female health entrepreneurs, as well as equipping them with the tools to embark on their own entrepreneurial activities. This year, with the aim to expand the WE Health concept, new partners will also develop one day long local activities.

Module 1: Unlocking your Innovative Potential

The first module, held in Stockholm from 10-12 April, is designed for women in science, research and bio-entrepreneurship with at least three years of work experience. This programme aims to help women explore the potential of their entrepreneurial ambitions and put their ideas on track.

Module 2: Starting your Entrepreneurship Journey

Held 3-5 June in Munich, this module invites women who have an entrepreneurial idea that they would like to develop. By providing a space to discuss ideas and share feedback, this module will help participants to consolidate their plans. Specifically, the women who take part in this programme will receive training in the validation of their business concepts, how to pitch, and leadership and team development.

Module 3: Empowering Women Leadership in Health Innovation

This module will take place on 16-18 September in Barcelona. It will be hosted by IESE Business School, which is the leading partner of WE Health. This module is aimed at women who are in senior leadership positions in the health innovation industry, health care providers, and governmental research and academic institutions. It will serve as a cross-learning and networking space for female health innovation leaders, equipping its participants with tools to create an environment within their organisations that values and fosters innovation.

The modules, all of which are free to attend, will each welcome approximately 35 female health innovators who are interested in making new contacts, sharing their experiences and learning from other professionals.
