Back in April, we announced “la Caixa’s” involvement in the “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Health Innovation” (WE Health) project. This EIT Health Campus initiative helps female entrepreneurs to meet their full career potential, through capacity building, training and mentorship. Now in its third year, this three-module programme provides a platform and support network for women entrepreneurs at different stages in their career in the health sector.

The first module of the programme—designed for early-career health researchers and professionals with entrepreneurial ambitions—was held over three days in Stockholm in April. The second, which took place in June in Munich, provided a space for women who have just started their entrepreneurial journeys.

Finally, the third module, for women with at least 10 years of industry experience, will be held at IESE Business School in Barcelona on 16-18 September. This event will gather up to 35 women in senior leadership positions, from industry, government and academia. They will spend three days learning from fellow female health leaders, discussing the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, their organisations, and the healthcare industry and society at large. They will also be equipped with the tools to create an environment within their organisations that values and fosters innovation.

On the final day of the module, “la Caixa” will be organising a special half-day event at Palau Macaya entitled "Mujeres e Innovación: Liderando el éxito en el sector salud" (in English, "Women and Innovation: Leading success in the health sector"). Open to both men and women, this event is a must for those interested in learning how greater female involvement in the health innovation ecosystem can boost its value. Top women innovators will discuss the advantages of gender-balanced teams, and the challenges faced by women in innovation, as well as sharing tips for success. You can register to attend this event here.

Overall, the WE Health initiative aims to close the gender gap that is currently a reality in health leadership, by unlocking the potential of female innovators and empowering them to have a greater impact in healthcare.
