The international multi-sectoral foundation for innovation, Nesta, organises the Innovation Growth Lab Global Conference (IGL2017) for the second consecutive year. It will take place on 13–14 June in Barcelona. The event is held in collaboration with the “la Caixa” Banking Foundation, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, the World Bank Group, the Cotec Foundation and the Inter-American Development Bank.

It will be the second time for the city to host the event organised by Nesta and the Foundation aims to repeat the success of the previous edition, IGL2016. The conference, which will last two days, will bring together high-level policy makers, professionals and researchers. As Nesta explains, participants to the event may have the following experiences:

- Broadening knowledge on future innovation and entrepreneurship policies.

- Participating in discussions on key policy challenges to automation, economic growth, including allocation of public innovation funding and regulation to support innovation.

- Improving the capacity of organisations to design policies that provide measurable impact using tools such as randomised controlled trials and big data.

- Getting to know the international community, sharing experiences and creating synergies.

The event will feature renowned international speakers such as José Miguel Benavente (Competitiveness and Innovation Division Chief, Inter-American Development Bank), Francesca Bria (Chief Technology and Digital Innovation Officer, Barcelona City Council), Marcos Cintra (President, FINEP, Brazil), Clara Eugenia Garcia (Director General for Research, Development & Innovation, Spanish Government), Taina Kulmala (Head of Policy Analysis Unit, Prime Minister’s Office, Finland), Mariano Mayer (Secretary for Entrepreneurship and SMEs, Argentinian Ministry of Production), Andrew Palmer, (Business Affairs Editor, The Economist), Ganesh Rasagam (Practice Manager for the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit, World Bank Group) and Raj Thampuram (Managing Director, Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research [A*STAR]).
