The 1st edition of Wild Card Projects will be accepting submissions until 9 March for projects aimed at tackling one of two proposed challenges: Smart Health and Fight Back. Presented during EIT Health Summit 2017, this new programme involves a tournament for international teams to develop innovative projects with transformative potential in solving the challenges.

Smart Health aims to explore solutions for capturing, storing and making sense of big data related to health, in order to improve medical diagnosis and treatment. Fight Back looks to tackle antibiotic resistance through new processes and methodologies, in order to address an issue that could cause a health crisis in Europe in the near future.

This new EIT Health initiative offers funding for a maximum period of 2 years, with a total budget of €2 million. Shortlisted participants will be invited to a tournament where they will be grouped into teams and mentored in developing their ideas. Winning teams will be selected after a pitch competition.
