The Active and Assisted Living (AAL) programme and Nesta’s Challenge Prize Centre are behind the 2nd Smart Ageing Prize, which is open to submissions until 30 March. The initiative awards innovative digital technologies aimed at promoting active and social ageing.

Participating projects will have to be ready for the market in a short time: no longer than 18 months after the award ceremony, in October 2018. Solutions also need to be co-designed with final users and should show measurable evidence of social improvements among seniors. Applications are open to individuals, groups and organisations based in any of the AAL member countries.

The Prize offers business development mentoring and a first prize of €35,000, a second prize of €10,000 and a judges’ choice award of €5,000. The winners will be revealed in an award ceremony held as part of the annual AAL Forum in October 2018.
